CPED 1000 is officially named as “Residential College Experiential Learning”. It is a Compulsory Major (CM) course at the University of Macau (UM), introducing the relevance of experiential learning in terms of the 5 core competencies emphasized in the university’s residential college (RC) education system: Interpersonal Relationship and Team Work, Leadership and Service, Healthy Living, Cultural Engagement, and Citizenship with Global Perspectives.

In CPED 1000, students should participate in games or activities initiated by themselves and reflect on their experience of participation in the form of class discussion and group report. Students will also be introduced to electronic portfolio system (Mahara) to keep evidence of their experiential learning and to share their experience and personal reflection. It is a UM requirement that each RC student must complete this course with a passing grade before graduation.
