Global perspectives seminar at Shiu Pong College: Legitimacy of co-location joint checkpoint scheme

On April 15, 2020, Dr. Henry Ho of the Faculty of Law was invited to deliver a seminar talk on “Legitimacy of Co-location Joint Checkpoint Scheme”. This is an online seminar and attracted more than 100 participants.

Dr. Ho introduced Hong Kong’s co-location joint checkpoint scheme and the controversy surrounding the issue. Comments from different parties, including the Standing Committee of the National People’s Congress, Hong Kong Bar Association, Mr. Li Fei (Chairman of the Basic Law Committee), Mr. Shieh Wing-tai (senior counsel), etc. were also introduced in the seminar. Dr. Ho also talked about the border control in different countries, such as Woodlands Train Checkpoint crossing between Singapore and Malaysia and the “Allegro” train crossing between Finland and Russia, inspiring participants to think about the issue from diverse perspectives. Many students said that the seminar was rich in content and thought-provoking, and that they gained a lot from it.

Aiming to further enhance students’ global competitiveness and expand their horizons, SPC has organized a seminar-talk series on a vast range of topics. Topic includes: the licit and illicit nature of parallel trading.

紹邦書院舉辦開拓國際視野系列講座:「一地兩檢」的正當性

二零二零年四月十五日,澳門大學法學院何慶文博士應邀主持開拓國際視野系列講座:「一地兩檢」的正當性,吸引逾百名師生參與。

何博士在講座上探討香港實施「一地兩檢」的方式及其爭議所在,並引述了人大常委會、香港大律師公會、李飛先生(基本法委員會主任)、石永泰先生(資深大律師)等對「一地兩檢」的意見。此外,何博士也簡介了不同國家邊境檢查的安排,如往來新加坡及馬來西亞的兀蘭火車關卡,以及往來芬蘭及俄羅斯的「快板號」列車等,引發參與者從不同的角度思考有關議題。參與者均表示講座內容豐富,獲益良多。

紹邦書院致力舉辦開拓國際視野系列講座,鼓勵學生建立廣濶的世界觀。以往介紹過的主題包括:地上及地下的水貨交易。
