Utility Subsidies and Unit Rate
The accommodation fee includes a monthly electricity quota of MOP70* and a water quota of MOP30*. These quotas will be accumulated as a lump sum in one semester for the calculation of excessive consumption that is required to pay by the individual student.
The utility unit rate (effective from 1 June 2025)
- Electricity: MOP1.26/kWh
- Water: MOP6.07/m³
* The utility subsidies are not applicable to summer stay
Calculation of Electricity Fee
- Electricity consumption (End reading − Beginning reading)
- Electricity unit rate
- Number of residents in the room
- Electricity subsidy
Electricity fee** = Electricity consumption × Electricity unit rate ÷ Number of residents in the room − Electricity subsidy
Example:
There are 2 students shared in a room in a semester. The beginning meter reading and the end meter reading of their room are 1,000kWh and 2,000kWh.
Electricity fee per student = [(2,000kWh – 1,000kWh) × MOP1.26 ÷ 2 students] – MOP350 = MOP280**
** Roundup to the nearest dollar as required by Finance Office (FO)
