Macao’s Urban Development and Integration of Chinese and Western Cultures

Celebrating the 40^th Anniversary of the University of Macau:

SPC’s seminar talk on Macao’s Urban Development and Integration of Chinese and Western Cultures

The Shiu Pong College strives to enhance students’ ability to appreciate the beauty and unique culture in Macao. On March 3, 2021, Professor Wang Zhisheng of the Faculty of Education was cordially invited to deliver a seminar on “Macao’s Urban Development and Integration of Chinese and Western Cultures”.

Professor Wang presented the audience with the historical landmarks in Macau, like St Paul’s Cathedral, Mount Fortress, St Dominic’s Church, Loyal Senate Building, A-Ma Temple, hence bring out the unique architectural style of Macao from the 16^th century to 20^th century.  The evolution and development of Macao’s history, as well as the social context of intermarriage between Portuguese and Chinese, were also introduced in the talk.

In sum, Professor Wang presented a comprehensive picture on Macao’s unique and fascinating history, and expanded the young audience’ understanding of this city’s great historical value.

澳門大學40週年校慶—

紹邦書院舉辦“澳門城建格局與中西文化交融”講座

紹邦書院致力增強學生的民族自豪感和家國情懷，鼓勵他們探索澳門中西融合的文化精髓。2021年3月3日，澳門大學教育學院王志勝教授應邀主持“澳門城建格局與中西文化交融”講座，吸引逾50名師生參與。

講座上，王教授介紹大三巴牌坊、大炮臺、玫瑰聖母堂、議事亭前地、媽閣廟等澳門著名的歷史建築，生動展現十六世紀至二十世紀間本地獨具一格的建築藝術。此外，他還介紹了澳門城市形成與發展的歷史軌跡，以及中葡通婚的社會背景等內容。

通過王教授的分享，參與者對澳門歷史的發展和演變有了更透徹的了解，有助他們進一步探索這座城市深厚且獨特的文化底蘊。
