Renowned Professor of Astronomy Unveiled Mysteries of the Universe

 

Prof. Wing-Huen Ip, a renowned Chinese professor of astronomy and space science at the Institute of Astronomy and Space Science, National Central University (NCU) in Taiwan, was invited to deliver a talk on “The Universe’s Dark Matters and Comets” at Shiu Pong College on April 7. About 60 people including professors and students of the University of Macau, and students of the middle schools in Macau attended the activity.

 

With explanations of necessary knowledge of astronomy and physics, Prof. Ip explicated in plain language the discovery and composition of dark matters of the universe, as well as the  movement pattern of comets. Besides expanding students’ horizons in astronomy, the talk also opened their eyes to see how scientists conduct researches. This talk ended with warm applause from audience.

4月7日下午17時30分, 知名華人天文學家、台灣國立中央大學天文研究所與太空科學研究所教授葉永烜先生受邀於紹邦書院進行了一場關於“暗物質與彗星”的講座。包括澳門大學的老師、學生,以及澳門地區的中學生在內的約60名聽眾到場參與。

講座中,葉教授一邊幫助聽眾回顧天文學和物理學的知識,一邊深入淺出地介紹了暗物質的發現過程和暗物質的組成成分,以及彗星的運行規律。通過葉教授的講解,同學們不僅擴充了自己的知識面,也瞭解到科學家們是如何進行研究和探索的。在觀眾的熱烈掌聲中,本次講座圓滿落幕。
