Shiu Pong College Organized A Series of Meaningful Talk/Seminars

In the spring of 2023, SPC held a series of meaningful talk/seminars to broaden the horizons of students.

From March 8th to 9th, Ms. Cheung Chui Yung, a well-known war reporter, gave two talks named “The Divided World under the Russo-Ukrainian War” and “Another Turkey——The Crisis Behind the Great Earthquake Tragedy” at SPC. She shared with young people what she saw, heard, and thought about during the interview. On March 15, the staffs of the Macau Judicial Police visited S9 and introduced the latest anti-fraud information. On March 22, Ms. Lio Mio Mei, a senior art critic, gave a talk on “The Glory Days of Cantonese Opera in Macao from 1930s to 1950s”, showing the students many precious old photos, and introducing influential people in that period. On April 28, Mr. Wong Tin Chon, an alumnus of UM and a senior comics practitioners, introduced the development of Macao’s animation industry, and how to use cartoons to popularize knowledge of Macao’s history. Finally, on May 3rd, Mr. Wong Tin, a well-known scholar in the history of China-Japan Relations, was invited to share his study experience and insights on the title of “From Macau to Academic Life”.

The above talk/seminars have enriched students’ knowledge from different perspectives and guided them to think more deeply about life and the world, which have been widely acclaimed. A total of 208 SPC students participated in above-mentioned events, and many audiences from other units also came for learning.
