At Shiu Pong College’s 1st High Table Dinner (2019-2020), Keynote Speaker Mr. Sou Chio Fai Encouraged Students Seizing New Opportunities in Greater Bay Area

Shiu Pong College (SPC) held its first High Table Dinner of this academic year on September 24, 2019. As a prestigious tradition originating from world leading universities, a High Table Dinner is a social, educational, and inspiring experience for students. It highlights the very mission and purpose of the residential college system at University of Macau (UM). The dinner attracted about 250 guests and students, including Professor Billy So, Vice-Rector of UM (Student Affairs); Mr. Sou Chio Fai, invited Keynote Speaker and Director of Macao Higher Education Bureau; Professor Zhang Benzi, Master of Shiu Pong College; Professor Yip Ming Chuen, Master of Lui Che Woo College; Professor Zhang Meifang, Master of Cheong Kun Lun College; Dr. Lau Yun Tung, Master of Chao Kuang Piu College; Mr. Paul Pang, Dean of Students. In addition, 17 Non-Resident Fellows and Affiliates from different faculties also attended the dinner.

As a tradition of SPC, Master Zhang first rang the bell to start the High Table Dinner. The bell is not only to draw attention, but also to call for personal reflection, and to encourage students to gain a deeper understanding of life. Then, Mr. Sou Chio Fai delivered a keynote speech. He shared his personal stories and recalled his experience when he studied in The University of East Asia (the predecessor of UM) and in Lisbon. Amid the keynote speech sharing, Mr. Sou introduced The Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area. As Greater Bay Area brings invaluable new development opportunities to different sectors of the community, especially our young people, Mr. Sou encouraged the students to grasp the opportunities and to participate in the development of the Greater Bay Area for a better tomorrow.

Besides Mr. Sou’s keynote speech, the dinner was interspersed with two performances: “My heart will go on” sang by Miss Eva Wang and piano solo “River flows in you” performed by Mr. Adrian Ng. The Inauguration Ceremony of the House Association (HA) was also held in the same evening. After Master Zhang presented certification of appointment to the executive members and chairs of HA, the new president, Mr. Sam Huang pledged to take up the important role to serve the College and all SPCers. At the toasting session,  Master Zhang wished our freshmen to well prepare themselves during their four-year study in UM for greater achievement, greater responsibilities, greater contribution, and greater satisfaction in life. Eventually, a song “See you again” was performed by the College Choir. This High Table Dinner was coloured with laughter and lively chit-chat among guests and students.

 

紹邦書院高桌晚宴圓滿結束 蘇朝暉局長鼓勵學生積極參與大灣區發展

2019-2020學年紹邦書院第一次高桌晚宴於2019年9月24日圓滿舉行。高桌晚宴是澳門大學書院文化的一個重要特色,其傳統悠久,尊貴典雅。它所體現的是一種博雅教育的精神和"全人教育"的理念,旨在拓寬學生視野,提升文化修養,陶鑄高尚情操。是次晚宴高朋滿座,共有約250名嘉賓及師生參與,嘉賓包括﹕澳門大學學生事務副校長蘇基朗教授、澳門高等教育局局長及主題演講嘉賓蘇朝暉先生、紹邦書院院長張本梓教授、呂志和書院院長葉銘泉教授、張崑崙書院院長張美芳教授、曹光彪書院院長劉潤東博士、學生事務長彭執中先生,以及17名書院導師。

是次的晚宴以張院長敲響鐘聲揭開序幕。在高桌晚宴上敲鐘是紹邦書院的傳統,鐘聲不單在於引起注意,更在於鼓勵學生對人生進行深刻的反思和感悟。其後,蘇局長作主題演講。他分享了自己的成長故事,憶述自己在東亞大學(澳門大學前身)及里斯本求學的點滴。他寄語學生加深對粵港澳大灣區建設的了解,抓緊大灣區建設為他們帶來的發展機遇,開創更美好的將來。

其後是表演環節,由王光怡同學獻唱 “My heart will go on” 及 吳子泓同學表演鋼琴獨奏 “River flows in you”。同場也進行了紹邦書院院生會就職儀式。張院長向院生會學生領袖頒發委任證書,新任主席黃樂生同學隨後發表就職宣言,承諾竭力服務回饋全院師生。張院長在緊接的祝酒儀式上,祝福新生們在大學生涯中能做好充分準備,無悔青春。最後,書院合唱團獻唱“See you again”,為是次晚宴劃上圓滿的句號。
