On February 15th 2019, SPCHA held a Chinese lantern-making workshop to celebrate the Lantern Festival (元宵節), one of the Chinese traditional festivals. Around 30 students joined the activity.

Symbolizing fortune and happiness, lanterns are commonly used in Chinese festivals as decoration and they are important handcrafts in Chinese tradition. This workshop aims to promote the Chinese traditional paper crafting art and to publicize its historic and cultural meanings.

The workshop started with an introduction to the history of Chinese lanterns and handmade skills by HA student leaders. Then, the participants designed and made their unique crafts. This activity provides the students a chance to experience Chinese traditional culture and to enhance bonding among fellow students in SPC.
