SPC students learn through playing at the 2nd English Camp
Shiu Pong College conducted her second English Camp on August 29 and 30 to effectively enhance the English speaking ability of its resident students. It attracted 46 freshmen and upper class students to participate. Students can “learn through playing” and they love the 14 energetic volunteer English speaking tutors.
In this 1.5 days English Camp, all the activities were designed around the theme of “Compass”, aiming at raising students’ ability and confidence to speak English and participated in character building discussion. “Human Library” and “Macau Cultural Excursion” are the top two favorite activities voted by students, as students not only can practice English outside campus but they are also inspired by the life stories shared by volunteer tutors.
Students expressed that this is a meaningful activity to them, they learnt to be thankful. “I made a group of energetic friends and I got the courage to talk whatever with them in English freely’ said by Du Yuxin, one of the freshmen. Another year one student also remarked that not only she learnt English during the camp but also she learnt the way to keep positive attitude towards life.
This English Camp brings great success to engage students to speak English, and all of them are looking forward the next English Camp.
紹邦生參加第二期英語學習營寓學於樂
為有效提高學生英語口語能力，紹邦書院於上週末舉辦了為期1.5天的第二期英語學習營，吸引超過45名紹邦生參加，反應熱烈。學生不僅寓學習於娛樂，還非常喜歡書院邀請的14名以英語為母語的志願導師，在全英語環境下與他們打成一片。
英語學習營的活動設計均圍繞著“指南針”主題，旨在透過不同活動提高學生英語口語能力、自信和培養品格。其中學生選出了兩個最受歡迎的活動，分別是 “Human Library” 和 “漫遊澳門”，透過活動，學生不僅可以走出校園與朋友導師們用英語溝通，還可從志願導師們的個人經歷分享中得到人生啟發。
參加者均表示這是一個別具意義的英語學習營，除了學習英語外還學會感恩。其中一名新生更表示：“在這裏我認識了一班有活力的朋友，現在我可以隨時隨地用英語和他們溝通。”另一名新生在學習營結束後感受深刻：“除了學習英語外，我還學會以積極正向的態度面對生活。
是次英語學習營取得圓滿成功，更有效提高學生們說英語的自信及溝通能力，參加者都期待可以參與下一期的英語訓練營。
