Celebrating the 40^th Anniversary of the University of Macau: SPC’s seminar on

“Heaven, Earth and the Four Directions – The Chinese views of Time and Space”

The Shiu Pong College strives to enhance students’ ability to appreciate the beauty and the uniqueness of Chinese culture. On October 20, 2021, Professor Wang Zhisheng of the Faculty of Education was cordially invited to deliver an online seminar on “Heaven, Earth and the Four Directions – The Chinese views of Time and Space”. The seminar attracted about 180 students in total.

Professor Wang presented the audience with the ancient calendar system. The calendar was very useful in ancient China because it was used by farmers to regulate their agricultural activities. Also, both the sun and the moon played very important roles in astronomical observation and in timekeeping. In sum, Professor Wang presented a comprehensive picture on Chinese unique and fascinating history, and expanded the young audiences’ understanding of our ancient calendar system.

“天地四方——淺談中國人的時空觀”講座

紹邦書院致力增強學生的民族自豪感和家國情壞，鼓勵他們探索中國文化精髓。2021年10月20日，澳門大學教育學院王志勝教授應邀主持“天地四方——淺談中國人的時空觀”線上講座，吸引逾180名師生參與。

講座上，王教授詳細講解了中國古代的曆法系統。中國是農耕文明，傳統的時空一體觀源自農耕的需要，來自古人對天地自然、日月星辰的觀察。通過王教授的分享，參與者對中國傳統歷史有了更透徹的了解，有助他們進一步認識博大精深、源遠流長的中國文化。
